![]() These 50% boosts affect the total stat and are calculated separately from the boosts a stat can get from Natures, Effort Values (or EVs), and Individual Values (or IVs). The other Choice items give similar boosts but in different stats, with Choice Band being a 50% increase to the total Attack stat and Choice Specs being a 50% to the total Special Attack stat. The Choice Scarf stands out from its sister items in that in exchange for locking a Pokémon into the first move it chooses on entering the field, the Pokémon gains a 50% boost to its total Speed stat. It has remained a staple competitive held item in every generation since then. The Choice Scarf, alongside the Choice Band and Specs, was introduced in generation 4, Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum. A rather simple item, the Choice Scarf sits as one of the “so simple its complicated” items in Pokémon, next to the other Choice items, Choice Band and Choice Specs. Simply put, a Choice Scarf is a held item that increases any Pokémon’s Speed stat by 50% in exchange for that Pokémon only being able to use 1 of its 4 moves while it is on the field.Ī Speed increase in return for locking in 1 move instead of having the normal choice of 4. Haxorus will almost always be running Mold Breaker. Take it out before it boosts its Defense with Max Steelspike. Haxorus doesn't have particularly excellent defensive stats, so it's easiest to hit it hard and fast with a super-effective move. Try setting up on it with Bulk Up, before it sets up too much of its own Swords/Dragon Dances. Bring out Corviknight, as that will give you the highest chance of coming out alive. Haxorus has a devastating 147 base Attack stat, which means that you'll almost certainly need a physical tank to deal with. How To Play Against Haxorus Use A Physical Wall Can outspeed and one-shot with Icicle Spear + Choice Scarf Countered by Haban Berry, Choice Scarf, and Focus Sash Will-o-Wisp and Strength Sap can lower its attack Leech Seed and its Ability will wear Haxorus down Can set up Stealth Rock and Yawn easily Won't be hit with a super-effective move Note that if you want to survive Hydreigon's Draco Meteor, you'll need to put 124 EVs into HP (take them from Attack). One alternate way to specialize your Haxorus is to equip a Haban Berry and pit it against enemy Dragon types like Hydreigon and Dragapult. If you're using a Choice item, you don't need either of these moves, however. If you want to outspeed Scarf Rotom or Scarf Togekiss, choose Dragon Dance. The choice between these two buff moves comes down to two things: More firepower, or more speed. Will 1 shot if you have a Life Orb (or better). The decision is ultimately up to you as to what you prefer. Iron Tail is somewhat unrelaible due to its accuracy, while Shadow Claw is accurate but deals less damage. Iron Tail and Shadow Claw are both moves that will deal super-effective damage to Mimikyu. There are other Mold Breaker options available, but Haxorus simply excels in terms of pure attack power. This allows it to break through its Disguise and take it out. The main draw to Haxorus is that it outspeeds Mimikyu and has Mold Breaker. Outrage / Iron Tail / Swords Dance / Earthquake Moves can be used on the target regardless of its Abilities.
